Trenton, Princeton Shooting Victims Identified By Authorities

A 49-year-old man from Trenton and a 31-year-old man from Princeton have been identified as the victims of separate fatal shootings, authorities said.

Two homes were struck by gunfire, but no occupants were hurt, during one of the weekend shootings in Trenton.

Just before midnight Saturday, Trenton police were called ed to the 400 block of Stuyvesant Avenue on a Shot Spotter activation

Police found Omar Burgess, 49, of Trenton. with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, according to Casey DeBlasio, a spokeswoman with the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.

Burgess was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a few hours later, according to DeBlasio.

A second gunshot victim was wounded in that incident and was taken to the hospital by personal vehicle for treatment, DeBlasio said. 

Multiple shell casings were found on Stuyvesant Avenue and two occupied houses were struck by gunfire, she said. None of the homes' occupants were injured.

In a separate incident, at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the intersection of Roebling Avenue and Washington Street for shots fired. 

Elias Juarez Lopez, 31, of Princeton. was found in the 800 block of Roebling Avenue with no pulse, DeBlasio said.  Lopez was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, she said. 

No arrests have been made in either homicide, she said.
